Hey team, it's a pleasure to be posting here with all of you. I've run MAME perfectly fine in the past, with older style games particularly from the SNES era. After reading the title, a lot of you may know where this thread is going. I've recently re-sparked my interest in MAME, as I am going to build a MAME cabinet to go all the way with this hobby. To start, I wanted to make sure I had all the MAME software down. So I downloaded MAME, several versions actually, along with the MK4 ROM. However, I'm unable to make it populate under my 'Available Games' tab. And, I was hoping you guys would be able to shed some light on this monster.
MAME, or the Multiple Arcade Machine Emulator, tackles the problem faced for those nostalgia-driven gamers. MAME, which was first released in 1997, is the world’s most renowned arcade emulator. MAME enjoys this position for a very good reason – for arcade emulation, you can do no better than with MAME. Previous MAME Releases. The latest official MAME release is available on the Latest Release page. Below is a collection of older MAME releases, dating back to the first official release from February, 1997. MESS only releases (prior to version 0.148) are available.
Dell Desktop Tower - Pentium processor (This won't be the computer I'm installing in the cabinet, just the one I use personally and the one I'm using to try to get these ROM's to work). MAME version .169 (I actually downloaded several versions trying to get this to work, so I've got a few on my computer, but I feel like this one is the latest) Windows 8 (Haven't upgraded to 8.1) yet.

I got my ROM from Emuparadise, and just to knock down a few of the things I already tried: -Changed the file name of the ROM
Best Mame Emulator
-Verified my ROM directory (I know it's the right one, because I also downloaded the Mortal Kombat 2 ROM and placed it in the same directory as 4. MK2 will show in MAME, but not MK4)
- I also downloaded clrmamepro, but I'm not exactly sure how to use it haha The last thing I tried was to try to play the ROM in MAME Plus! This didn't correct the problem either. However, in the 'All Games' tab, an info message appears for each game, and under the MK4 info page it says 'THIS GAME DOESN'T WORK.' 'You won't be able to make it work correctly. Don't bother.' 'The game lacks sound.' But, I feel like this isn't true, because I've seen people play it before.
